Fix Round Up or Product Availability Errors on Shopify POS

Fix Round Up or Product Availability Errors on Shopify POS

If DonateMate works for fixed donation amounts in Shopify POS but Round Up fails or says the product is not available at checkout, the problem is usually the donation product setup, not the round-up calculation itself.

Why this happens

Round Up still adds a normal DonateMate donation product to the POS cart. If that product is not available to POS, not assigned correctly, or not active, checkout will fail.

Check 1: Make sure the donation product is available on the Point of Sale sales channel

  1. Go to Shopify Admin → Products.
  2. Open the DonateMate donation product you want to use.
  3. Find Sales channels.
  4. Confirm Point of Sale is enabled.
  5. Save the product.

Check 2: Make sure a donation product is assigned for that POS location

  1. Go to Apps → DonateMate → Manage Products.
  2. Scroll to Point of Sale Donations.
  3. Find the POS location you're using.
  4. Select the donation product for that location.
  5. Save your changes.

If no product is selected, DonateMate may fall back to the first available donation product, which can create confusion if the wrong product is unpublished or unavailable to POS.

Check 3: Confirm the product is still active

  • Make sure the product has not been archived or deleted
  • Make sure it is still a DonateMate-managed product
  • If you recently changed products, reopen the POS app and test again

Check 4: Test with a fixed amount and then Round Up

If fixed amounts work but Round Up does not, test on the same POS location after confirming the product/channel setup above. In most cases, the underlying issue is still product availability rather than the round-up feature itself.

Quick reset steps

  1. Re-save the donation product in Shopify Admin
  2. Re-save the POS location assignment in DonateMate
  3. Close and reopen the Shopify POS app
  4. Try a fresh cart

If it still fails

Send support your store URL, the POS location name, the donation product name, and a screenshot of the error. That usually makes it possible to spot the setup issue quickly.
